Job Summary

The Team
The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) contributes to the protection of society by conducting independent, effective and fair prosecutions and appeals and by striving to develop the most effective methods to administer criminal justice in the province. The BCPS is divided into five regions – North, Interior, Fraser, Vancouver, and Vancouver Island-Powell River. Criminal Appeals and Special Prosecutions (CASP) and BCPS Headquarters (HQ) are primarily located in Vancouver and Victoria.

As part of BCPS Headquarters, the Business Operations Team is responsible for finance and budgeting, human resources/labour relations, facilities management, business continuity planning, security services, occupational health and safety programs, technology-based applications and infrastructure, and data/business intelligence.We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives are valued, helping everyone contribute to a fair and effective justice system.

The Role
The Program Assistant for Business Operations provides vital administrative, secretarial, and financial support to the Executive Director and their team, ensuring the smooth operation of daily priorities. In this role, you will coordinate schedules, manage tasks, and liaise with ministry executive offices. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, adaptable to changing priorities, and values inclusivity in the workplace, contributing to a supportive and collaborative environment.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one (1) year (preferred two (2) years) recent (within the last five (5)years) administrative experience.
  • Administrative experience must include at least four (4) of the following:
    • Office experience working in a confidential capacity, including maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information and materials;
    • Experience managing calendars, scheduling meetings and travel arrangements, including logistics, facilities and catering;
    • Experience typing, drafting, formatting, proofreading and editing a variety of documents, including memos, briefing materials, reports and presentations;
    • Experience developing and maintaining administrative systems, procedures and standards including executive correspondence, templates and records management;
    • Experience in word processing and other computer applications such as spreadsheets, databases, Internet and mail tracking systems.

Preference may be given to applicants:

  • Who have completed business administration courses or with a certificate in office administration or equivalent.
  • With experience working in the justice sector.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.
