Job Summary

The Team:
Join the Mackenzie Field Team at BC Timber Sales (BCTS) and become part of a dedicated group of forest professionals. Our established team of approximately twenty members manage the full forestry development lifecycle, ensuring sustainable and resilient forest ecosystems. The Role:
As a Practices Forester, you’ll play a crucial role in operational planning, cut block and forest road layout, silviculture activities, and ensuring compliance with the Forest Stewardship Plan. Your work will support BCTS’s commitment to sound forest management and sustainable environmental stewardship, positively impacting BC’s economy and communities. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• A Registered Professional Forester (RPF), or be eligible for registration as an RPF with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC)andtwo (2) years of experience in operational field forestry activities.

Operational field forestry activities includethe following:

• • Timber harvesting monitoring/conformance
  • Cut-block development
  • Forest road engineering
  • Silviculture
  • Timber tenure development and administration
  • Planning integrated resource management

• Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

• Experience in more than one (1) operational field forestry activity.
• Experience working with Indigenous Peoples.
• Experience in contract management.

Flexible work options are available; these positions may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

Professional Designation: YES – Please include your registration number in your application. You must be registered as a Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC), or able to transfer a current membership to FPBC within six (6) months of employment. Applicants currently registered with FPBC as an Allied Science Forester in Training (ASFIT) or Forester in Training (FIT), or able to transfer their current ASFIT/FIT membership to FPBC within six (6) months, may be considered for this position at the Licensed Science Officer 1A level. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
