Job Summary

The Team
The Capital Markets Group is an established team of 8 skilled professionals, including a Director, Portfolio Managers, a Junior Portfolio Manager, a Portfolio Analysts, and a co-op employee. This team works closely with external market participants including bank dealers, institutional investors, and regulators, as well as with internal counterparts to support effective funding for client entities across government and its agencies. The team is known for its high level of expertise and its strong focus on capital markets activity.

The Role
As the Portfolio Analyst, Capital Markets, you’ll play a key role in supporting the team with daily activities and longer-term projects within the Provincial Treasury’s Debt Management Branch. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside bond market professionals, gaining hands-on experience in both domestic and global capital markets. This role offers a fantastic growth opportunity, allowing you to develop critical skills in market research, executing financial transactions, and strategy formulation. Due to the time zones of the markets in which the team operates, this position will require some variance in work hours. Your work will be instrumental in helping the province secure the lowest-cost and minimum-risk financing, making a significant impact while advancing your career.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • University degree (or ability to complete a university degree in 6 months) in commerce, business administration, economics, or a related curriculum.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Recent work experience in capital markets
  • Experience or coursework specific to macro economics, money markets, bond markets and derivatives
  • Related finance and capital markets professional designations
  • Experience working with the Bloomberg system

About this Position:
There is currently a temporary opportunity available until December 31, 2025, this temporary opportunity may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
