Our Quality & Risk Management Group is looking for an analyst to join our conflicts of interest resolving team.

Conflict of Interest Analysts or “Resolvers” are responsible for identifying and mitigating potential conflicts of interest from the information provided through an internally developed application. This application assists the Firm in complying with legal and regulatory independence requirements related to the provision of services and in identifying potential conflicts of interest with proposed engagements.

What you will do

  • Apply professional judgement by complying to the requirements under numerous professional standards including but not limited to the CPA Code of Professional Conduct (CPA Code) and the IESBA International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (IESBA Code).
  • Review, analyze and maintain reports related to conflicts of interest, highlighting areas requiring further action and follow-up as necessary.
  • Manage conflicts of interest, establish and communicate conflict mitigation plans to engagement teams
  • Communicate resolutions to our engagement teams and participating on a variety of ad-hoc projects.
  • Respond to day-to-day conflict of interest enquiries (telephone/e-mail) ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Assist with the managing of content and data.
  • Highlight and escalate issues to subject matter experts for appropriate action.
  • Helping to assess issues in application functionality and testing changes.
  • Collaborate with Partners, Managers and Professional Staff from our lines of client services (Audit, Tax and Advisory), local Risk Management, local Legal Counsel and Resolvers from other member firms when necessary.
  • Providing support on ad-hoc project work.
  • Providing similar support to other compliance applications/processes as needed.

What you bring to the role

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in a business-related field
  • Strong analytical, judgement and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with colleagues at all professional levels
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Experience with and ability to maintain confidentiality of data
  • Exhibit initiative, follow-up and follow through with customer support
  • Ability to efficiently process urgent requests
  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload
  • Proven track record of teambuilding, relationship management, and dealing effectively with Senior Management
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent organizational, planning, problem solving, decision making and time management skills
  • High aptitude to learning new systems / technology
  • Ability to assimilate, analyze and facilitate information sharing
  • This position requires written and oral fluency in English.

KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $40,500 to $61,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
