Job Summary

The Team

The Court Clerk Team and Court Registry Clerk Team are both well-established and play crucial roles in supporting the judicial system. The Court Clerk Team, comprising 18-20 members, manages courtroom administration, while the Court Registry Clerk Team, made up of 8-10 members, primarily focuses on registry work with some court clerking responsibilities. Working alongside accounting staff, Justices of the Peace, Sheriffs, and other key roles, both teams contribute to ensuring fair access to justice for all citizens of British Columbia. Collaboration and teamwork are at the core of both teams, with members consistently supporting one another to achieve shared goals.

The Role

As a Registry/Court Clerk at the Abbotsford Law Courts, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient, timely, and accessible court services. Your responsibilities will include providing administrative support to both Supreme and Provincial Courts, preparing and facilitating courtrooms for daily proceedings, and interacting with the public, legal professionals, and the Judiciary. By streamlining processes and enhancing services through technology, you’ll help improve the court experience for citizens. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ administrative support or customer service experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of one (1) year previous work experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and working with standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Experience in court programs and applications (e.g., JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
  • Experience as a Court Clerk and/or Registry Clerk.
  • One (1) year of previous work experience in a legal environment.
