About the Role

To promote and support BMO Nesbitt Burns’ suite of fee based and managed asset products. Serve as a point of contact for Investment Advisors (IAs) and other branch personnel to assist them in integrating these proprietary products and services into their business model and provide them with ongoing support to effectively manage these programs within their practice. Collect and disseminate feedback from IAs, their teams and branch personnel with respect to these programs in order to enhance usability and increase penetration across the firm. Ultimately, drive adoption of BMO Nesbitt Burns’ fee for advice products and services as a means of growing IAs assets under management while managing their books effectively and efficiently.

Drives sales results and enhances the promotion of investment products and services to new and existing networks and market opportunities. Applies professional consultative sales and business development practices and techniques for an assigned product / portfolio.

  • Act as “Single Point of Contact” for Investment Advisors (“IA”) and their teams, dispensing product information and issue resolution within a pre-determined SLA.
  • Proactively reach out to IAs to market fee based product offering.
  • Update IAs and their teams on product developments, enhancements and change management initiatives to ensure a positive IA and client experience.
  • Become a subject matter expert with respect to products and services in order to identify and provide solutions for client-specific scenarios.
  • Coach IAs on how to best represent fee based products to their clients and prospects to increase revenues and share of wallet.
  • Ensure IA inquiries are properly channeled within the organization to their complete satisfaction when advanced counsel is required.
  • Solicit feedback from IA network to assist product group in development and enhancement of product offering.
  • Assist in co-ordination of business development initiatives such as IA conference calls, seminars, road shows or other events that promote the exchange of information on the fee based products and third party managers.
  • Liaise with external investment management firms to ensure consistency across internal and external marketing efforts.
  • Prepare regular reporting that tracks adoption of fee for advice programs to assist management in understanding penetration and achievement against plan.
  • Track IA coverage activities to measure effectiveness of Wealth Action Team.
  • Assist in development and distribution of fee for advice product sales support materials.
  • Work on-on-one with IAs to assist them with development and execution of fee for advice transition plans within their practice.
  • Plays a leadership role in the industry to promote the investment solution product and brand.
  • Provides input to the national sales strategy based on the potential in the assigned region.
  • Drives business development efforts and marketing plans of the sales team.
  • Discusses sophisticated self-directed investing concepts based on customer scenarios to demonstrate the benefit of products.
  • Shares self directed investing concept solutions to leverage success across the regional team.
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Provides monthly reporting of sales results and generate discussions to develop more productive business development opportunities.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Monitors sales results to identify any issues and mitigate as effectively as possible.
  • Leads or participates in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develops tailored messaging; and identifies appropriate distribution channels.
  • Reviews sales client messaging to safeguard the organization and customer assets via established compliance and regulatory parameters.
  • Leads/participates in the design, implementation and management of core business / group processes.
  • Drives increased product knowledge and expertise by training and coaching BMO employees.
  • Collaborates effectively with internal stakeholders to build capability and drive business growth.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Education and Experience

  • University degree
  • Canadian Securities Course or other industry designations are an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant investment industry experience, which may include previous inside sales experience, full service brokerage experience or wealth management services experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment products and services.
  • Bilingual is an asset

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of investment management principals – asset allocation, risk management, portfolio management theory
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to adapt communication style depending on audience
  • Good presentation skills, displaying comfort in speaking to both large groups and working one-on-one with IAs
  • Relationship/consultative sales skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Salesforce.com

Salary :

$68,000.00 – $126,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
