Job Summary

The Team
The Research Innovation and Community Partnerships Branch, operating within the BC Data Service (BCDS) of the Ministry of Citizens’ Services, is dedicated to advancing innovative research methods and fostering community partnerships. The team plays a key role in implementing the Anti-Racism Data Act and ensuring that statistical practices address inequities in government programs and services. The branch collaborates closely with BC Stats and focuses on developing strategies that involve Indigenous and racialized communities in its research efforts. The branch consists of approximately 10 members and was created in the past six months.

The Role
The Program Assistant plays a key role in providing essential administrative and clerical support to the branch, including tasks such as preparing documents, managing records, scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, organizing travel, tracking correspondence, and assisting with financial administration. The Program Assistant supports the branch’s major projects and initiatives, including those related to the Anti-Racism Data Act. This is an exciting opportunity to engage in meaningful government work focused on innovation, equity, and data, making a tangible impact on the lives of British Columbians.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 6 months’ related experience; OR
• Evergreen and 1 year related experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes the following:

  • Experience working in an office setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience managing an electronic calendar (e.g., arranging meetings and appointments).
  • Experience providing administrative support services for a group of staff.
  • Experience with electronic records management.

PREFERENCE

  • Experience with financial transactions /activities (e.g., accounts payable, purchasing, reconciliation, invoicing, etc.)

About this Position:
Currently there is one (1) permanent opportunity available.
The position headquarters will be Victoria, Vancouver, Surrey, Richmond or Prince George.
